Made in California, the 23rd Annual Jurried Exhibition
A proud tradition returns to the City of Brea Art Gallery in Made in California, the 23rd Annual Juried Exhibition from June 1-27.

This year’s guest juror, Gloria Williams Sander of the Norton Simon Museum, will select up to 80 artworks from hundreds of entries from across the state of California. Made in California is indeed a favorite in art circles because it always offers the unexpected. Emerging new artists have an opportunity to surprise the public with fresh concepts and unusual materials displayed alongside polished classic formats. The exhibit is friendly to the curious passerby and playful for seasoned critics.
The City of Brea Gallery is located in the Brea Civic & Cultural Center at 1 Civic Center Circle, Plaza level, Brea (adjacent to the Brea Mall). Gallery hours are: Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. Admission is $2 for adults and free for ages 12 and under. For more information, call (714) 990-7730

Daryl takes familiar inanimate objects from the past, mixes them with the perfect blend of color and turns them into extraordinary works of art to be enjoyed now and long into the future.

It’s rare to find an artist whose work impacts adults and children alike–my young children have seen Mrs. Gortner’s work and can now pick out her unique style when viewing art exhibits! I enjoy seeing her pieces as well–nostalgic and full of life! I can’t wait to see her showing at the Brea Juried Exhibit!

Daryl,
You’re amazing. Your art is incrediable, it is hard to believe it is painted or drawn, it looks so real. Congratulations on all your success, you have earned it.

Daryl Gortners’s interpretation of everyday objects bogle the mind.. from red patent high heels, to lollipops and patent leather purses that mom used to carry….
Her works bring forth enjoyment and beautiful thoughts and memories…
wow… I am so impressed… so are all of my friends that view her peices…

Hi,
Missed you at the reception last night. I liked the company they placed your painting with. Crystal’s Pears and the Poppies watercolor. Great juxtaposition of color and theme.
